Despite the current situation, Tikva managed to team up with Step-Up Boys to run an action-packed day camp in line with current Covid19 government guidelines.
Due to restrictions in visiting theme parks and indoor locations, staff using their utmost creativity planned and delivered a varied and stimulating programme which took place mainly outdoors at their on-site location in High Wycombe in the Chiltern Hills.
Activities included baking, music sessions, a home-grown circus, painting, rowing/canoeing, trampolining and a farm visit.
These were led by a very high-ratio of devoted, trained staff and volunteers to participants, and also included a catered lunch and supper so that the learning disabled adults returned home happy, fulfilled and ready to retire for the night.
This was a huge help for their older parent-carers, many who had been cooped up at home together with their charges for many months due to the COVID-19 related closures of their day-centres. We received much positive feedback.
